I feel your pain I am now 20 weeks and I had my last appointment at 18 weeks and we didn't get to see the sex of our baby. We wanted to do it as a Christmas present. Now since we are going on vacation we don't figure out until January 4th. I know why we couldn't was because you have to have a full bladder and a schedule appointment for it because it's a special one to know the sex and also check the whole anatomy of the baby. So since people have a full bladder they have to rush to get people in if they are there for their appointment. There's I think by me called precious peek where you can see the babies sex early along with many thing you get with is like a 3D photo with scratch off tickets to hand to people with the sex of the baby

Im pregnant with twins and was told I can find out at 16 weeks I think my Dr will do it because when you're pregnant with twins you're closely monitored. Im 14 weeks today and my Dr's appointment is January 4th

@cass_lynne, I have had complications starting at 11-12 weeks, I might when I go to my check up appointment...and @kaylamommy0803 I am extremely jealous of you! lol a big store is closing right after the holidays and baby clothes are on sale and I just want to buy them all! Lol

That's exactly what I was trying to say @cass_lynne ! Insurance only covers so many ultrasounds. They're not going to cover one just for gender. They don't care about gender. They care about anatomy and health of the baby.

in my first pregnancy I found out what I was having at 14 weeks and 2 days. I guess it just depends on the doctor :\ I think you can pay out of pocket for a blood test

You're probably not gonna get that. They're scheduled by protocol. It's not really about what you want. You can't get the measurements needed at 16 weeks. And their parts aren't completely developed.

@alyen2, I know what the 20 week appointment is that's not why I was asking lol I was asking why I couldn't do an earlier ultrasound....I have an extremely good OBGYN and she explained which ultrasounds are the most important and when I will have to have more...I just want a 16 week ultrasound

So they can do the anatomy scan at the same time. The anatomy scan is the important part, not the gender.

@cass_lynne, my insurance covers everything 100% even if I have to have extra ultrasounds, which I do because my little brother has heart defects

Most insurances won't cover it. It's extremely expensive to have an ultra sound

Your 20 week ultrasound isn't for gender. It's for making sure your baby is growing properly and there are no issues. They will just tell you at the ultrasound what you're having. At 20 weeks all of your baby's organs are developed, as well as his or her body. They want to make sure everything is alright developmental wise.

males and females all start out as female in the womb....as time passes then the males penis starts to protrude and then its easy to tell that its a boy. if u have it done tok early they can tell u its gonna be a girl but it could be the wrong gender.

yes they will talk to u and u feel comfy I was 15 weeks and 2 days if they can't find out for u they can reschedule u they do package deals

@maggie_2016, where did you go to pay $35 to find out the gender! I personally would love to do that! Like I said I'm impatient

20 weeks is when it's fully developed

I got mine at 15 weeks but I went to a place n paid 35$ they gave me the gender and 3 pics and I also get to video tape everything u should go also

Well I already had to wait till 11-12 weeks for my first ultrasound! I'm tired of waiting to see my baby again! Made me wait to long the first time 😒

20 wks is when they usually do the anatomy scan and then therefore tell u the sex at that point. and they tend to wait till everything is full developed.

It's easier for them to tell when you're farther along. That's what my doctor told me.
