I believe so and make sure it is in your birth plan so they know it's what you want. I have a midwife and she really encourages this. She asked me about it, but I'm sure you just tell you OB that's what you want.
Well since he was my first I can't really compare it. But it just doesn't make sense to me to cut it early. I mean if there really is a need and your little one has to leave your side I understand but other wise why not let your baby get as much extra nutrients and oxygen it can from you? The change from womb to the world is so intense as it is I think it's nice to give them that extra help to transition. Those were my thoughts anyways. :)
