anyone smoke while pregnant? pot or cigarettes
I'm not judging by any means mama I just want to warn you that if the doctor has reason S/he can test the placenta for drugs, the placenta will carry every drug a person has done or taken and the doctor is legally obligated to inform Child Protective Services. CPS will either take the child then and there or they will do an extensive investigation on you, dad, and the home environment. So please keep that in mind hun.
pot wise. once I found out I was pregnant I quit. do I miss it? god yes. do I get jealous when my boyfriend can still get high and I can't? you bet. but it's not worth me risking getting my son taken away. I know women who smoked pot during pregnancy and was warned. I know of one whose daughter was taken once she was born. that's my biggest fear. now when I'm no longer pregnant... that's a different story. once I'm out the hospital my boyfriend has promised to have a huge blunt rolled and ready for me once we have out baby down for the night. as that will be our rule as a whole. no handling baby high. and we can only be high when he's down for the night or if he's being watched when we have just a night to ourselves
I still smoke cigarettes. but before I became pregnant I was a 2 pack a day smoker. I went to my ob about it. and he told me with my history of me stopping when pregnant and then miscarrying that he wanted me to keep smoking but to cut back as much as I can so I dont stress myself or my baby out. my first 4 months I went down to smoking a whole pack a day. these last 2 months we gave been working on me staying on one pack. successfully I make a pack last me 3 days. which has never happened in my life. i'm hoping to be completely done with cigarettes within the next 3-4 weeks. I get judged all the time being pregnant and smoking but I take my doctors advice before anyone else's. every pregnancy I had I quit smoking cold turkey and miscarried. this one I still smoke and my baby is healthy as can be. and weighs perfectly fine. people can judge me all they want. but I know the progress I've made since the end of July when I found out I was expecting, and I am monitored by my ob and my boyfriend with the cigarette smoking. don't let anyone make you feel like shit with any guilt trips. not everyone is the same and we quickly forget that! @jaericoboys
I was a smoker about 7 years ago, quitting was one of the hardest things I'd ever done. I completely understand where you're coming from. it doesn't make you any less of or a bad person that you struggle with this during pregnancy so don't let others make you feel that way. it could be real easy for me to sit on my high horse and shake my finger at you for it but I get what a struggle it is. plus I'm not the high horse type of person...
@maybaby2016, I agree. I feel bad but them again my first two were perfect and I take my vitamins everyday etc but if you were in my shoes. you might see it differently and where I'm coming from
some people are highly addicted to tobacco and although it isn't their first choice to smoke while pregnant, they end up doing it to keep themselves from stressing out as well as the baby. a lot of medical professionals do recommend not quitting cold turkey during pregnancy because of this. I don't think anyone just chooses to start smoking during pregnancy nor do they enjoy doing it either. @mommabear3cubs
@lilchicken, it is litteraly impossible with the high stress levels I have. a ciggaretts makes me feel so much better I smoke shorts and not the whole thing like 3 in total a day but put it out half way. and have no support on quitting
@mommabear3cubs, I'm asking because I do not everyday but when I feel down. I have depression and my back pain OMG.. it truly helps. and I'm sure a lot of moms do and are afaird to admit it but I did with my first 2 and they were perfectly healthy and still are. zero health issues. perfect little angelz
actually smoking pot has not been found to harm unborn babies. it's actually safer than cigarettes. but either way, why risk having your child taken away??? and definitely try to start slowly weaning yourself off cigarettes...
I smoked like a pack a day before i found out but with my doctors help and family support I quit in like a week or so by cutting back a little every day. My doctor said it puts a lot of stress on the baby to quit cold turkey. As for pot I haven't but I have a friend who did.
@misskaebby, agreed thanks for sharing with me. I'm glad your baby is healthy!! I havent smoked pot in about 9 months I smoked pot my through my first two and no they didn't take my kids away they questioned me n that's about it I have stoped due to dcf recently out of my life b/c of me and my boyfriend arguing (it was some bullshit) older people over react and basically lied. but n/c of that I feel they keep a close eye on my family lol no pot for me but once in awoke I take a few hits
