This is probably the dumbest question ever, but when is labor, technically. Does it start when you have contractions, or when your water breaks, or the actual pushing or???? not sure if others have different meanings of labor. I was induced and it went fast so I'm wondering exactly how long I can say my labor was. people ask all the time and I can never give a number lol

there's three stages of labor.

There's three stages of labor. Once contractions start, then once you're dilated, then the pushing. its all considered labor. its just in different parts.

There's inactive labor and active labor

there's early labor 1-3 cm and active labor witch is 4-7 cm and the transition phase witch is 7-10 cm.

then the second stage of labor is anytime after 10cm till baby is born. the third stage of labor is delivering the placenta.
