That's strange!! The kind I use- gentleease is purple and for fussiness and gas. I use it for gas, but maybe your sons colic is a combination of reflux & gas and fussiness. I don't smell it, ever... Even when making it or if I spill some. Even his saturated bibs don't smell, unless I literally stick my nose to it and smell it.
@bjqc_, because I tried today nutramigen, it really stinks. Soooo bad
No... I mean, I don't like the smell of formula regardless, but it doesn't bother me. I don't smell it unless I actually sniff it lol there's not like an odor
@bjqc_, the formula u use, does it smell? I just use nutramigel, its really stinks.
@bjqc_, I just went recently. She told me he has reflex. He spits alot. After each feeding.
@babyboy1202, Call his doctor and go in for a check up visit. She can listen to his belly for gas bubbles. That's what they're there for! To answer your questions, give you support and peace of mind! I've gone on for 4 scheduled visits since he's been born, and 5 I called and made myself due to panic. It's normal!
@bjqc_, he've been crying all day. I cant hear it no more. He already make me cry. I really dont know now if it colic or something else
He will be 3 months next week. He was about 5 weeks when I gave him prune juice with water. The water dilutes the prune juice. I don't just give him water alone
@bjqc_, how many months is ur son? And when u start to give him water?
That's how my son was too... Would push and push all day and couldn't go. It broke my heart. Ask his doctor if you can try giving him prune juice. I called mine and she just told me 75/25. So I was giving him 3 oz water, mixed with 1 oz prune juice, once a day or once more at night if he didn't go a lot during the day. Just make sure the prune juice is a baby brand or sugar free!
@bjqc_, i used to feed him with a breast, but doctor told me to pump and give from bottle. Im using dr brown
Also- depending on which bottles you're using for your breast milk. I love platex air and Doctor Browns because they don't collect air like other bottles. My Medela breast pump only fits the Medela bottles, so I ended up pumping into those and pouring them into the bottles I liked or putting a bag insert in the Medela bottles and storing my milk that way.
@bjqc_, mine pooped like 7-8 times a day, since yesterday he pooped only 2 times, and it did bothered him. He've been pushing all day, farting, but couldnt poop
If you're really set on breastfeeding, I don't want to sway you another way. I wish I could have stuck with breastfeeding! You have to do what's best for you and the baby... Even if people push you to breastfeed. You do what you feel is right. It's not your fault, even if it is something you're eating. It's very common. I started it and honestly, instantly saw results. He pooped the first night without prune juice, and was less fussy during feedings. Now I rarely give him gas drops, if at all. Gripe water for hiccups if they last an extended period of time, but he's completely normal as far as pooping goes. He ranges from 1-3 times a day, on his own.
@bjqc_, thanks alot. When I see him like this crying for a second day already, I dont want to breastfeed cause thinking that It might be me whose eating not right. After u start to use this formula how he is going to poop? How many times?
Breast milk is really good for your baby. It's your decision. I was breastfeeding exclusively, then introduced formula as a supplement and ended up switching to formula because he was eating way more than I felt I could produce... The colic could be gas, and if you're breastfeeding it could be something you're eating then passing onto him. Try removing dairy from your diet for a few days and seeing if it makes a difference.. Then green veggies, etc until you do or don't see a change. That was another reason I stopped breastfeeding. Some things we eat upset their tummies. Every baby is different. My son was always crying while eating regular formula, fussy, kicking in pain... I had to put prune juice in his bottles to help him poop, then I switched to gentle ease... And we've had no problems since. If you're wanting to continue breastfeeding, seek guidance from a lactation counselor. Mine helped me a lot! Hope you can figure it out!
@bjqc_, I have dr Brown bottles. Im breastfeeding, since yesterday I pump and feed with bottle, but I think that yesterday and today he is in more pain. Just screaming. Seems too fuzzy. May be because I gave him zantac? Do u think that give formula gonna make it less?
Look into gripe water, it's a more natural alternative to other gas drops. Hope your baby feels better!
Have you tried Dr. Browns bottles? They're specifically for colic and gas. My baby doesn't have colic, but did have gas issues. And those worked wonders. Gripe water as well... I use it for hiccups but it says for colic! They have formula specified for colic... Not sure if it actually works. I use gentleease enfamil now and it's made the world of difference for my sons tummy. So maybe the specialized formula would work for your situation!
@bjqc_, still i think that my son stinks 😂
