Does anyone have experience with blocked tear ducts? I brought my two month old in thinking he had conjunctivitis, but they told me it was a blocked tear duct and the goop could come and go (even with use of the medication). I haven't seen it gooey since his appointment 3 days ago. I'm a first time mom so excuse me if this makes me sound so incredible dumb, but... He produces tears just fine (hate his tears), so what does the blocked tear duct affect?
My son had it bad when he was born but it went away when he was 2 weeks old , he is 17 months old now and has sensitive eyes they get irritated easily now
one of my boys had a blocked tear duct. they said it can happen sometimes if the tiny hole that the tears come out of isn't fully "developed" I would just rub his nose area on the side that it's blocked, use gently pressure. I did it a couple times a day, used moist heat and it cleared itself up.
Girl, you don't sound dumb. Having a new baby can bring a lot of questions. I just heard of that and still don't know what it really is.😕
A blocked tear duct can cause and infection in the eye and if it doesn't clear up by a certain age doctors will usually try to put a needle in the tear duct to move the blockage. My baby had the same thing going on and I put the medicine in her eye morning and night and it cleared up within a week or so
His Pedi said most babies grow out of it by 12 months. It's just strange he had it one day then it was just gone. I hope it doesn't come back! It looks like it hurts him, but he couldn't be less bothered by it.
Jj will get that once I'm a while. I bought him to the doctors thinking it was conjunctivitis but he said the tubes in his face were so small that sometimes the booggies will come out his year duct. he told me to just wipe it away with a warm wet wash towle
My daughter had it on both sides she ended up have to have the surgery for it. Like stated above, she had needles put into the tear ducts on both sides and flushed, after that she didn't have anymore issues.
