they say nicotine leaves tour system within an hour so just don't smoke an hour prior to feeding him.

I quit also and started right after I had him and every time he goes to the doctor they say he is fine. so I guess it don't.

@akgx3, but again if you're okay to drive you're okay to breastfeed. Definitely don't go get wasted and feed your child that milk. And the alcohol test strips are extremely ineffective.

babies are more affected by cigarettes when formula fed because breastmilk has protections against things formula doesnt

@kmally, drinking does affect breastmilk..thats why they made alcohol test strips to test breastmilk

@akgx3, yes you may have a glass of wine during your pregnancy as long as it is under 8 oz., but it isn't advised because one glass turns to two and so one and so fourth. So it is better to not drink during your pregnancy or while you are breastfeeding until the baby is off the boob.

@hellokarly, as long as you're okay to drive, drinking alcohol does not affect your breastmilk. Smoking can and it would be best to wait.

i wouldnt recommend smoking but thats what research says

it actually doesnt affect it if its not more than five..i wouldnt over do it daily just like you actually CAN have an alcoholic beverage while pregnant but like i said you can over do it..and women also can drink a glass of wine during pregnancy..

I wouldn't the baby's getting all those toxins in the ciggaretts!

@carsonsmommy2016 I'm pretty sure you can't, because if you can't drink while breastfeeding I'm sure you shouldn't be aloud to smoke either(if it be cigs or weed). If you stopped for 9 months I'm sure a few more months waiting till the baby stops breastfeeding will be a breeze for you both.

I would like to know this also. I smoked before I got pregnant too.
