One thing I really miss is being able to ride as an EMT with my ambulance corp.. Now that I'm pregnant my OB doesn't recommend it since the lifting of the job is well over 25-30lbs between stretcher and average patient ratio. Since 25-30lbs is all my doctor wants me to lift.. I can't continue my passion.. For a short time 😓 it kills me..

@missaemt, omg lol in that case FD better lift or you'll need additional resources ! That's terrible lol 🙈😅😅 not good for u to be lifting like that esp early on ! Better get the crane and call construction to assist you on your calls to bring these people out hahah I remember me and my partner had a Bari patient and we almost dropped her off the curb she was heavy and the stretcher tipped and FD had to step in 🙈🙈

@mommabear3cubs, aw it's sweet though of them ! Lol but I would feel the same like I'm not retarded I can lift lol I have this thing esp since in Ems men assume we can't lift as girls since it's such a male dominant profession I don't like when fire lifts for me lol

@missaemt, yeah that's what I was worried about as well ! But just wait till you see your OB I'm sure you'll be ok :) @mommabear3cubs that makes perfect sense actually! I'm thinking it's due to something else but smoke inhalation deff big no no ! I wanted to do fire academy in the future !

my OB told me to work till I felt uncomfortable and as far as fire I was told to stop till baby was born cause of the risks of smoke inhalation and such.

@missaemt, just be careful lifting early on biggest thing is you don't wanna MC from lifting ! Which is what my doc was concerned about ! Again with proper lifting techniques like @mommabear3cubs said it shouldn't be a problem but everyone's pregnancy is diff you could be high Risk or other things ! Good luck my love just be cautious ! :) January 7th is around the corner

okay because I'm six weeks today but still working. I don't see a doc until Jan 7th so I'm trying to decide if I should wait until then or ask work to put me on light duty until I see the doc

@missaemt, I was about 6 weeks it depends on your OB and also your squads I have friends who are EMS and they're squad won't allow you to Continue riding if your preggo I'm assuming some of that is partially liability on their part as well if anything happens I've heard diff things my squad my chief told me I could ride but my OB didn't give me the ok

Since the very beginning when I first found out I wanted to know if it was ok and my doctor was like not if your lifting more than 30lbs stop that until after u give birth @missaemt if your lifting more than that
Kate·

@mommabear3cubs, my doctor doesn't want me to ! I've heard diff stories ! Like how your saying it depends on your pregnancy and your OB ! Unfortunately for me I'm not allowed and Ive heard of women who ride till their 7-8 months that's why it upsets me. Really sucks

my medic worked till a week before she had her baby. as long as u lift properly u shouldn't have an issue.
