this is kinda true though because my step kids all have ADHD my son has autism and I think he has ADHD too lol medication is just what people made up to have our kids like zombies. I'm old school. discipline works. all my kids respect and I never hear any complaints about them because now they have it in their head to stop acting crazy and to control themselves lol
@mumof2, yesss, I believe discipline works in place of medicine. My little cousin was diagnosed with that but as soon as you pull out the belt he act right.
My son has ADHD and ODD, I tried a belt a few times, never worked, his medication helps a ton with school, its not to help them calm down its to help them concentrate when needed, hes not a zombie in the least bit either. He is now doing great in school. It really is an everyday struggle for those kids that truely have it
@xoxo512070, I understand. The zombie issue depends on the type of medicine prescribed plus the severity of the illness. Every case is different. When my cousin was put on meds, he hardly seemed happy, we preferred him off of it.
@mizg1989, yes exactly! we have been struggling to find the right meds for my son becuase if that issue, and also because he would become immune after a few weeks, I think after 4 years we finally found the perfect one and perfect dose, hes happy, active and has fun but at the Sam time he can actually stop and concentrate when he needs to. Its sad to see my son off of them actually, his brain moves so fast that he cant remember what he did 5 minutes ago, he struggles every night when his meds wear off, he has cried because he hates how his brain thinks so fast and he cant concentrate on little thing like movies. So it does depend on what they are on, I have seen plenty of kids with the diagnoses function just fine without because its not as severe
@mizg1989, thanks I do to, but we have found different ways of coping with it at home, when he is not on his meds, a lot of research and trial and error!
