My week old newborn nursed 4 times within 2 hour before we went to bed and then supplemented 1 1/2 fl oz of formula and she is barely waking up to feed almost 5 hours later and she only nursed for about 5 minutes on each side? Is this normal?? Is she getting the nutrients that she needs, and maybe she was just full?

@mommatoobee, they're having my supplement until my milk fully comes in. Because she was borderline jaundice she needed to eat as much as possible to keep pooping. I'm producing a lot more but they haven't fully came in yet.

all she needs is breast mama your body is made for it even if you don't think she's getting enough she is she's a newborn she doesn't need a lot and your boobs produce according to what she needs its all about supply=demand I would keep putting her on the boob a lot of mamas give up breastfeeding cause they think they aren't getting enough but your supply will only be as good as you demand it!

Ask her dr. She may not want her sleeping through feelings

I would say since you're also supplementing she'll take a little longer in between feedings. my daughter wouldn't latch right so she would only stay on for a little bit and so I would have to supplement that and she was such a large baby I couldn't give her enough either. she'd go to sleep at 11 wake up at 2 then not wake up until 6.30 most times
