rant.....
why the hell does my boyfriend have the mentality that I'm supposed to just sit back and be a mom and not have fun?
I haven't had my baby yet but I mentioned how I might go to my friends next year for the fourth and have a cook out and I will probably have a couple of drinks and he goes "well how are you supposed to do that with a baby?" and I told him when I put the baby down is when I'll have a few drinks(just casual drinking)
yet here he is constantly drinking and smoking cigarettes and goes "that's not allowed?" oh but I'm supposed to sit back and watch you have drinks and smoke cigarettes but I'm not allowed to do anything besides tend to my child.
am I being over dramatic or is he just being controlling. honest opinions please

He seems very controlling. Not only is that your child, but it's also your body, and you can make your own decisions. It's not like you'll be getting black out drunk and forgetting your baby exists. He probably just doesn't want to be stuck with the responsibility.

you are pregnant with the baby's still and he's saying you can't drink for the 4th of JULY??? wtf??? yikes. that's way over controlling... like how does he thjnk he even has a say if you have a drink or not when you are no longer pregnant. n does he expect to not be caring for the child equally or at all???

There is no reason you can't have some drinks then he's just being controlling!

@bria.k, well I'll be breast feeding if I can and he doesn't approve of that. and I've already talked to a Dr and a lactation consultant and they said as long as I'm sober enough to drive I'm sober enough to nurse(NEVER WOULD EVEN HAVE ONE DRINK AND DRIVE!) But that's their rule and they also said they'd provide me test strips so I can make sure there is no trace of alcohol. and idk who knows maybe I won't want to celebrate my 21st by the time the baby is here. but its so annoying that he can just sit here and tell me everything I'm not allowed to do yet he's doing it.
judge me if you please.
but I used to smoke pot to help anxiety and depression. he told me once the baby is here I can't really do it. which is shitty because all pills make me suicidal and don't agree with my body. and I have a higher chance of PPD but he'd rather see me suffer that then smoke a hitter a few times a week

@mrsanderson817, @mrugg he says I can't casually drink until I'm done breast feeding... yes black out drunk is a no no while feeding BUT ONE OR TWO drinks will not kill me and I'm not going to be dumb and not test my milk

You can have drinks! But in all honesty, a lot of dads, especially first time ones just get nervous, maybe he doesn't think he can handle a baby so he wants to make sure your able to help, that's how my fiance is, but I also get nervous drinking myself I have only had a few here and there, like 3 beers lol

@xoxo512070, I'd never get shit faced as long as my child lives with me... I even explained that to him

@momma_2_batbaby, well right, its hard to say, my fiance is paranoid over everything, even the way I hold him and this is my second lol, some men are just scared. But you are your own person, you make your own decisions!

BFing and drinking is perfectly fine! A drink (maybe even 3) is totally fine and like barely anything would get passed through. I understand his concern but it's not like you're gonna try to harm your baby on purpose? Not to mention you can pump before hand and feed the baby that way.
