I had multiple PE's in both lungs and you don't live with it. It needs to be treated immediately with blood thinners until it goes away or it will eventually be fatal.

they should give you meds to break it up. it can be fatal.

blood thinners only keep more from happening. only your body breaks up and dissolves the clot.

Ok on warfarin they will have you stay on that for 6 months to a year until they feel it's safe. There are good restrictions like you cannot eat grapefruit. And you will have to get your blood checked every 1-2 weeks.

please do. I'm having trouble coping with it. my mom died when was two from the same thing at 23. she was the same age as I am now. I'm going to be on warfarin the rest of my life. I go to weekly appointments, and see blood doctors weekly. I'm already having symptoms of more clots. I found out tomorrow if there are more. I'm scared I won't be able to watch my son grow up. just the thought kills me. it keeps me down. I need someone who knows what I'm going through. hopefully you can help. @preggie_usa

@teamjayce2015, is this an acute PE or something that's been ongoing. First of all you need to be in the hospital on bedrest with a heparin drip infusion to break those clots up. Depending on the hospital they can place you on a EKMO machine which will dissolve rather than break the clot up. Nevertheless as you know a clot in the lungs can be fatal when it comes to respiratory wise. They need to do ultrasound/echo to see the progression of any. Also once you're in the clear they would place you in warfarin/Coumadin therapy as you're aware of with your mother. Im sorry that you're going through this while being pregnant. Think positive and prayers are with you.

@nurseriri, I've already went to hospital and done all the test x-rays, mri, lovonox, herprin, now I'm on warfarin therapy. I go to get my INR checked weekly. I see the hematologist tomorrow for the first time since I got out of hospital. I think I've bin out three weeks now. I've have two in my right lung. the lower one was 3cm. no thinners disolve blood clots. your body naturally breaks the clots. thinners only keep your blood from ree clotting.

@teamjayce2015, said heparin drip breaks it up initially and the Coumadin maintains the blood from clotting. I'm a critical care nurse. Deal with this type of thing at least once a week. But glad you're feeling ok now. And you know exactly what to do. Take care of yourself and your little one.
