Really regretting having this nanny job. The dad "works from home" and I can feel him spying on me! His 4 yr old boy is so spoiled and very wild. I told him if he doesn't stop throwing Legos at the 1 yr old that I will give him a time out... The dad later tells me no we don't do time outs!!!???? Umm really that's why ur kid is so damn bad and doesn't have manners or listen...... To top it off they want me to do their laundry (parents) sorry I don't wanna fold your thongs and boxers.... I'll do the kids laundry but I don't think I should be doing the parents.. Ew

Ok my rant dismorning is done. Off to work 😒

I'm getting paid 12 an hour. Not too bad! And 40 hours a week between 3 days and it is super awkd when the dad home he was watching me making breakfast @no kkisummers and @whitney I use to nanny for another wealthy family too and it was the same shit!! We shouldn't have to wash parent dishes and their pots and pans from dinner!!!!

I used to nanny for this really wealthy family and they were horrible! All the kids were spoiled and they would make a list of things for me to clean every day. I would get frustrated like I'm your nanny not your maid. Every morning I would get there and their dinner and dirty dishes would still be out waiting for me to do them. The parents would also give each of their children 100 dollar bills everyday and they would tell me to bring the children where they want. It was even more awkward when they would stay home from work.

@jennaocon, I hope you're getting paid good!!! I would not feel comfortable washing their laundry...who would want to even touch that!?? I'm a nanny too & I do the kids laundry (because I'm nice, they didn't ask me to) but never the parents! && both parents work out of the house. Sometimes the dad or mom will work from home but that's once every couple of months & its sooooooooo awkward!

You could also try a different approach I would in a child care at the YMCA and we "redirect" kids. So if he's throwing Legos at the sibling you could tell him "no thank you we can't do that, you know what you can do though... Build this or this with them" it works. And instead of "timeout" you give him a second to sit there and gather himself and then you can talk to him and tell him it wasn't nice, those are his hands he can not throw Legos because someone could get really hurt and sad! It works with kids. They feel you anger and they know how to push your buttons if you let them. Or if they did something bad we tell them to just walk away and find different fun with their toys because this is either grown up stuff or not for him!

I would tell him to watch his own kids

Very welcome! 😊 I feel like teaching the child compassion and boundaries is a lot easier than discipline. They can relate to it. If you say "what if I threw Legos at you and made you cry? Would that be okay? No. It hurts and it's mea and it's not your body, therefor it's not okay to do something they don't want you to" Makes them understand /why/ they shouldn't do it, instead of just saying "don't do that its mean" and then punishing them by doing something they think is mean. In a child's mind punishment is just as bad as what they were being punished for, but they can definitely understand that they shouldn't do something in the first place! As long as it's explained to them clearly and there are no blurred lines or gray areas (like getting yelled at for yelling or getting spanked for hitting.) I hope you can help the little animal become a well mannered angel. A good nanny is a very positive influence on a child's life. Especially when they have douche fathers that watch you take care of their kids when they could be playing an active roll in their lives.
