Depends on the hospital. Where I delivered they give you the epidural or pain meds any time you want them. I made it to five centimeters without anything then I got my epidural and I was in heaven. Just to warn you, the pain getting the epidural is about a 5 too. But if you have IV pain meds which I didn't, you may not feel it. And contractions aren't that bad really. I tolerated the pain and made it half way with nothing.
lol just be careful girl. cause when your water breaks.. its not always what you expect.. im a perfect example. lol @annabellesmommy and if you get an epidural you wont be able to feel your water break.. the doctor broke my water with my first son.. and i didnt feel anything besides alot of pressue being released. but every ones different. good luck with your baby girlie. ill be watching out for pi tures

yeah they told me i was VERY lucky that him or i didnt get an infection especially because i had sex also wile my water was leaking @mommyslittleman
It was about a 5. Extremely uncomfortable. I was one zero pain meds at the time.

@anisesoline, that's so amazing that you didn't get an infection. My water was broken by the doctor in the hospital and I STILL got a damn infection. Had to have a c-section.
my water broke in the middle of the night... i didnt even know my water was leaking.. i was expecting a big gush of water.. but instead i just felt very wet. sorry dor the tmi. lol i woke up went grocery shopping, put all the grocerys away, had sex, took a nap, took my son to the park... and the holeeeeee time my dumb self had no clue my water was leaking untill i sat down out side and realized my shorts were wet. thats when i knew i had to go to the hospital.. i ended up going around 6pm.. and they did and ultrasound sound and told me my poor baby harldy had in water to move around it... long story short and 12hours of labor i had a healthy beautiful baby boy.. i just had to stay in the hospital for 72 hours to make sure him or i didnt contract an infection since my water was broken for 24hours and i was just kicken it like nothing happend. lol and thats my story.
I was on my lunch break and went to go pick up lunch and stopped to get my eye brows done nxt door...well I thought it broke when I started to headed back to the room by the time I was done I was definitely sure my water broke my pants were wet.
It was my sons birthday I got up to get ready we where going to do something special that day but as soon as I got up water gushed out I was like did I just pee myself called my mom and she said to walk around and if I kept leaking my water broke sure enough it did my baby was ready to meet the world on his brothers birthday best birthday ever said my big boy lol 4 years apart it's crazy of you think about it lol
I didn't feel him move when it broke I felt him a hr before it broke

I was laying in bed on preggie went to roll over to my other side felt a pop a gush got.off my bed went to the bathroom to smell my pants cause I thought I peed myself. went and told.hubby he asked if I was sure and I said no I've never been threw this and then he told me to ask his dad cause he is a ems/firefighter I told him.I didn't wanna talk to his dad about the fluid coming from my vajaja lol I called my Dr and then went to the hospital
my water broke in the middle of the night....I went to bed around 10p and I normally get one good hr of sleep after that I'm normally tossing and turning all night well this night was no different around 5:30a I normally get up to use bathroom so I thought nothing of once I got the urge to go I went to roll on my right side to get up since I slept mostly on my left and felt a lil pop in my hips I thought nothing of it until I started feeling fluid about to come out I thought I may be bleeding so I hopped up and as soon as I got to the toilet and went to sit down the water just gushed out I was so scared I yelled to my boyfriend to get up lol poor him he was so confused as to why I was yelling we rushed to the hospital they checked to make sure it was actually my water once confirmed they checked to see how much I was dilated and I was only 3cm lol had my water not broke the Dr on call was going to send me home
