I wanted to start storing my breast milk the colostrum or whatever it's called so do I use my pump? Cause it's leaking constantly I wanna save it for when the baby comes
@ritababy123, don't worry about that. Your babies stomach is literally as small as fingertip the first few days so it may not seem like enough but they are definitely getting enough colostrum. trust me when your milk comes in you will know it. And like I said your milk develops as baby needs it. your colostrum will still be there before and after baby is born. If you pump now there's a chance of screwing up your natural system your body automatically does
don't start pumping now. 1- Because it can put you into preterm labor and 2- Because your baby will regulate your milk for you when she starts nursing. The colostrum will not go away until after you start nursing and baby brings in your milk.
You could try hand expressing if it's leaking. I would suggest consulting with your doctor about pumping during pregnancy. I've read some conflicting information on the risks and benefits.
