@chela915, in a lot of states yes, being pregnant means that medically they are in charge of themselves. that's how it was for me at 16 in alabama, but then I moved back to my hometown in Ohio, not far from where this girl lives. I walked into the ER and gave them all my medical records and told them what was wrong and they made me sit in a room and wait till they could call my dad. when in alabama, I was hospitalized for 3 weeks and he never knew it. in Ohio her parent or guardian still needs to give the hospital consent to treat her in any way.

but in most states once the underage girl gives birth and is no longer pregnant she's no longer in charge of herself medically and they have to go back to asking parents for permission to treat her.

I was 17 with my first child and my mother didn't have to but I would just ask to make sure

to my understanding you dnt need a parent to sign for you. I work for a nurse line and we don't need authorization unless they have no kids and are nt pregnant. But maybe am wrong.

@lilyandkaidynsmommy, @mom13 in the state of Ohio an underage girl is not medically emancipated while pregnant.

in Ohio yes she will be. having a baby underage does not make you an adult, it most states being pregnant makes you medically emancipated (meaning you're in charge of yourself medically.) but no in the state of Ohio.
