For parents of a mixed family , how does your child identify ? This has been a big question between my husband and I . He is Black and I'm Black and Mexican but I identify as Mexican ...
I'm half black and half white. I dont necessarily identify as either. MY dad(black) always had us select other on race and put human because that's precisely what we are. and if I have to write a racial profile down I put biracial
yes being mixed people will always try to tell you what you are, or what you should identify as. Smh like my baby's father is black, & I'm half white and half black. I'm gonna make sure my baby knows that race isn't important but if she wants to identify then she is mixed. Were all mixed with something!
@anisesoline, the problem with that is that My side of the family is saying One race and his side of the family is like She isn't Mexican and so we arE both getting opinions from them when we don't ask for them and it's making us clash .
@marie_xo, it's not that I only identify as Mexican it's that that's what I grew up around . Ya know? Like so I would find myself saying Yeah I'm Mexican not realizing oh shoot I'm not just that . That's all I was ever told that I was until I got older .
at the hospital they told me my son is Mexican because his dad is Mexican and it doesn't really matter what my race is...Idk how true that is but just my experience
my daughter identifies as native american& filipina ( I'm native american and filipina and he bio dad is full Mexican). and my son will be the same since his dad is Mexican & Filipino
