I'm getting really angry, My mums got 5cats and one of them not long had kittens, And I'm getting bitten by fleas😞 Can this harm the baby in anyway?
@tiasohi1Haven't heard of foot and mouth in children. Sounds scary😦Definitely need to look that up. But @gemma98 You should definitely have your mum get rid of the fleas now. Fleas are horrible little things. I myself have a completely indoor cat but I still apply flea spot on monthly and worm him quarterly. Better to be safe than sorry. And touch wood, I have not had fleas since he was a kitten..
You just need to be careful when the baby gets here aswell ... Fleas and children don't mix - also the outbreak of foot and mouth in small infants at the moment is at an all time high ... Which can be carried in from the gardens by cats etc X
@gemma98 I don't think fleas can affect the baby hun but just incase I'd mention it to you doctor. Meanwhile have your mum apply flea spot on on the cats and then flea sprayand vacuum the house everyday until they die out, which should be soon after that.
Also there's nothing wrong with having a cat while pregnant. The problem is with your skin coming in contact with cat poo that may be infected with toxoplasmosis. Toxoplasmosis becomes active in poo around 12-24 hours after the cat poops. Just avoid the litter box or use gloves when cleaning it and wash hands straight away with antibacterial hand-wash. I suggest cleaning out litter box 2-3 times a day so the toxoplasmosis doesn't have a chance to become active.
BTW, not all cats have toxoplasmosis and indoor cats are very low risk.
should be fine unless they get infected if your not sure ask your midwife xx
I don't know about beating by fleas, but I know contact with cats can harm your baby. You need to say your doctor than you have cats at home ant then he will make a test for toxoplasmosis. And for sure you must not touch, clean and smell cat's toilet, it's really bed for pregnancy. Google it and you will read lot of info about it
yes hand, foot and mouth is very common in children. I've experienced it alot within children at nursery x
