Starting a new family tradition this Christmas that I am beyond excited about! This year our Christmas tree is only going to have 3 ornaments on it. One that we buy for our son, one that my husband will buy me and one that I will buy him. Each year we are going to buy each other ornaments (so next year one for our son and one for our daughter and then we each will buy each other one) each year our tree will grow with ornaments as we add every year. I for real am in love with this new family tradition!

@mariahabigael, No it won't be empty. We are going to have a tree with lights and a tree topper and it will be decorated but as far as ornaments go we will only have 3 this year... As the years go on it will build and grow just as our family will. Instead of having a stupid tree with stupid ornaments that mean NOTHING we will have a tree that each year will have more and more added on to it (as far as ornaments go) it will symbolize the years that have passed and everything that we go through and make it through. It will symbolize the love and memories our family will share as the years go by. So yes this yes we may have an "empty" tree but it will be an empty tree that means so much more than a full tree will ever mean.

I think that's a super cute idea! It may seem empty for a few years, but soon enough it'll be so special! I love it

@autumn, thank you! That's the whole point of it is to watch it grow. By the time our kids are grown they will have ALLL these memories to look back on just by putting up the tree
