The only reason you weren't supposed to before is because your chances of an emergency c section are higher and if you eat it can affect the anesthesia and cause problems which can cause legal problems for the Drs but recent studies show you CAN eat.
My doc told me to eat before I went to be induced because once I was in the only thing I could have was ice, slushies or popsicles. I didn't have any complications having my twins vaginally.

I've always wondered that. if you can eat before giving natural birth, I'd be scared to go on myself If my stomach is full idk why lol
