My cousin is ashamed to ask this question so I'm doing it for her .. Can any mommies tell me if they smoked a tad bit of weed when pregnant my cousin does because she can't eat without puking dr gave her nausea pills but there is a legal commercial for a lawsuit for those pills so she smokes to eat
I smoked with my son at 6&1/2 months cause in fl they drug test baby and placenta so I had to quit but it helped with my morning sickness and aches and pains due to pregnancy. My son was born early (not because I smoked) and he was perfectly healthy and could breath on his own at 35 weeks. But I smoked in moderation I never smoked anywhere near as much as I did before my pregnancy
my sister smoked with hers and my cousins smoked with theirs too. Babies are fine, however should their babies come out with something wrong they will drug test, just tell her to be careful, btw that pill Zofran, those law suits are a bunch of bs, they wouldve pulled them off the market, in fact I was just prescribed them 2 months ago
I smoked until I was 5 months. I stopped bc I started hearing about getting drug tested, & baby being taken & nothing is worth that. I only smoked on occasion though, no where near as much as I did pre-pregnancy. I'd tell her to stop, as far as I know when they get you to pee in a cup at every visit they can see weed use. & they will document that.
I smoked and quit when I hit the third trimester. I was so sick all the time I had to.
i smoked my first tri with my son & my daughter bc of morning sickness, a little in the 2nd
@lovemybabies87, I don't know what prescription she was given, but I took Diclegis and it worked great!
You should see if you can get some in oil form that you can ingest instead of smoking . Like others said its not the weed itself that hurts the baby but smoking it does because you're inhaling smoke which is bad for baby's lungs and cutting off oxygen to the brain. That said you're still at risk of them taking your baby when you fail the drug test which I'd rather be sick than do that
have a friend that smoked her entire pregnancy or she would vomit all day. her little guy is 5 months and amazing learning and health wise. they tested his first bowel movement because that's what they do here in PA and child services came. they interviewed her and her boyfriend and nothing more has come of it.
@disneybaby, correct. I was given THC for nausea last year, during radiation. Worked WONDERS. I just can't smoke. Lungs won't allow it. For my pregnancy I've used other methods, mostly ginger in different forms and the medication prescribed.
I would avoid smoking because the baby's lungs are not formed. If I wouldn't smoke around a newborn, I would definitely not inhale smoke where my unborn could be affected and had no way to get to fresh air. But that's just me. Like I said, I DO NO JUDGING because every mama is different.
.... they do test for any drug use. if she tests positive then they will test baby. if baby tests positive then child protection WILL get involved..... I hold no judgment myself but I am speaking from known experience. It's not worth the risk of having case that never goes away and possibly losing your child depending on the findings.
I'd be worried about cps getting involved if it isn't legal and also smoking anything is dangerous because it cuts of air supply to your lungs if she wants to do weed maybe she could try edibles, there are other things she can take for her sickness if she is uncomfortable with what the doctor has prescribed
I smoked for the first 2 months. I would have continued if it wasn't for me being paranoid that they would drug test my urine and use it against me (I've heard stories lol) but I imagine it wouldn't harm the baby as long as it's not cut with anything and it's just weed. Weed has shown to help people lately so I imagine it wouldn't do the baby any harm.
Ginger might be a good thing for her! Ginger cookies, ginger tea. It is a bit spicy but it can help curb that nausea sometimes.
I've actually heard that those women diagnosed with the very severe morning sickness are prescribed weed because it helps. however, I'd look into more and wouldn't do it if it wasn't legal where I lived. plus, I also read about a woman who had her baby taken away because of her doing that.
I personally have not for fear of harming my baby... But my two good friends did for the beginning of their pregnancy they said they stopped by 20 weeks
Also, just for clarification, I hold absolutely NO judgment. I'm just fearful of any smoking (I have asthma & very reactive airways, as does my daughter) and I want her to be as healthy as possible. =)
my sister in law did with both her pregnancies but I will for warn you idk ca laws but fl called dcyf on her and threatened to take both kids away but her second one she put up for adoption so it ended up being pointless but they did do house calls for a while to make sure the other child was taken care of some places drug test pregnant women though out pregnancy she may want to talk to her dr
