Why do people say my 16 month old ? Like why dont they just say 1yrs old ? Im not even tryna be rude…

It shows their development age. I'm trying to think of the best way to explain it.. Say your baby is 2... & he's in diapers some moms (rudely) will think "wow he's still in diapers" but if you say "he's 25 months" that tells people he just turned 2 .. It's weird and idk if I explained it good but it has everything to do with their development stages

I understand it to an extent. Once it gets past a certain point it becomes ridiculous but at 12 months they're in a very different place developmentally than when they're 18 months. And those are both a year old.

Each month until I believe 24 months is a different developmental milestone your child should reach....

Trust me it got on my nerve too until I got pregnant and read books on parenting lol...then it started to make sense

Lol yeah some people are really picky about it because when you say "he's a year old" it could range from 12m1day to 24m and there is a huge developmental difference from 12 to 24 months lol I don't think it's wrong to round up or down by any means lol
