you don't have to dilate to be having contractions. alot of people have that ignorant idea. it happened to me very bad contractions and I didn't dilate at all. just last week. and mine were 4 minutes apart. mine were due to dehydration

5-1-1 five minutes apart one minute long lasting for more than an hour.
