So I'm getting induced right now they're softening my cervix tonight then giving me the meds to dilate me in the morning but why are they trying to get me to take sleeping medicine tonight??!?! I turned it down because I don't feel that's safe. But why??

Cause you'll be tired as fuck of you don't sleep well tonight and if you're too tired you won't be able to handle contractions and pushing it'll wear you out too soon and may result in a c section of you don't have the energy. If you're in the hospital you can't eat or drink anything to recoup energy either
i got nubain to help relax me which 1 dose is safe. since i couldn't sleep & needed rest. maybe ask about that?
If it's a long process both you and baby will need your strength so hopefully you can sleep without it. Good luck you're almost there!
the Cervidil that they gave me to soften my cervix put me into labor and I didn't need induced! good luck!!! sleeping meds is to get some good rest because you will need it.
@mamabird, that could be it but they said it puts my baby to sleep too... I am not okay with it lol
They know you'll need your strength and sometimes the meds they give to star labor can be uncomfortable and the process can be LONG. Why do you feel it's unsafe?
maybe they want you to get some good rest cuz you're going to need your strength tomorrow, idk just a guess:-)
I'm getting induced at 39 weeks as well and I'm not sure what to expect! I will definitely be tuned into your posts up til delivery. I hope all goes weelll for you and baby @mommy2k15
