Hey girls, I'm looking into birth control for after our little girl arrives.. I've never been on birth control due to my family having infertility issues, so I'm just wanting to get some input on what y'all liked using best? Any opinions are welcome.
I have the Mirena IUD and love it.... I don't have to remember to take a pill or put patch on its just there lol
I've had the nexplanon. I didn't like it. For the first few months I was constantly spotting but after that I didn't have a period at all, which was nice. but it also killed my sex drive. My MIL recommended the mirena to me because she is sensitive to BC like I am. but everyone is different
I'm going back to the nuvaring. It's worked for me, no side effects and I know exactly when my cycle is coming.
I got the depo shot as well, I always missed my appointment and got it at like every 4 months lol. I eventually said what's the point I'm not having sex anymore and don't see it happening in the near future and I always get it late anyways. Went without bc for like 2-1/2 years and didn't use condoms. Started dating someone under 18 and we actually used condoms until 4 in a row broke and I got pregnant lol. Not exactly sure how it happened but glad it did. Not sure if the after effects of the depo somehow miraculously kept me from getting pregnant before but some miracle happened. I don't know what anyone else's beliefs are but someone was watching out for me and made sure I was with a great guy before letting me get pregnant. But so a little accident doesn't happen again I am going with (most likely) the arm implant, if not that one than the 5 year one.
I'm gonna use the nexplanon it's a tiny bar they put in your arm and it last for three years!!
I was on the depo shot for 2 years and loved it. But you have to get it every 3 months, and sometimes the cycle shortens out. It shortened out on me the last month, and that's how I got pregnant. So now I am going to try the Nexplanon that @allisongrace said.
I took the patch & I loved it. You change it weekly for 3 wks and than leave it off for one week and that'll be the week yu get ya menstrual) what i loved most about it is that you control your own menstrual
I've tried everything under the sun and the only thing that has worked for me is the mirena iud. I've had it twice first time 5 years took it out got pregnant within a few months (on accident) and then got it again last year had it in for about 15 months took it out (for this baby) got pregnant within a couple weeks. never had any issues at all. and I didn't have any periods or weight gain. it was heavenly. getting another one after this baby is born
I'm going back to the pill.... I've had trouble on every other form of birth control but the pill. I've heard too many horror stories about the arm implant to even consider it. to me I just feel like that's too many hormones at one time with the shot and such, so I am just going to stick with the pill.
They also have a pill but she didn't even explain it to me because I'm horrible at remembering pills lol
I've seen a lot of people mention the Nexplanon implant, and I'm just gonna say that I do NOT recommend it. I had it for about a year, and out of that year, I was off of my period for TWO WEEKS. Super heavy, always cramping. My acne was horrible and I gained a ton of weight, and I had mood swings like crazy. I didn't get pregnant but I also never had sex! who wants to when you feel like that!? Not to mention if they put it in wrong or if it moves (there's a chance) it can cause muscle damage and it can also be impossible for them to get it out. The negatives outweigh the benefits, and I've never met anyone who's had a positive experience with it or even had it the full 3 years. My friend actually ended up getting pregnant with it within three months of having it put in.
