breastfeeding encouragement needed please. I'm having a hard time getting baby to latch. there is a chance of us leaving…

My baby will be 2 weeks on thursday and the first week was HELL. Especially the first night home. I cried and felt the same way you felt.i have inverted nipples so i needed a nipple shield to get him to latch. It gets much better.

are ur nipple's inverted or flat. I have that and had to pinch on them to get them out a bit. it hurt like hell and I cried. after the baby latched it hurt more. like a burning sensation. a month later things got easier, but I pump between feedings due to over production. hang in there if you can and if you can't your not a bad parent. I only breastfed 3/4 of my children. 1 only for a month, the next was 3 months and currently trying to go longer for my two month old.

I feel really down this morning. the nurse who is the lactation councilor for the night said I wasn't latching baby on right and that he was starting to get dehydrated, so I tried getting him to latch with her help amd he was just getting angry. she said I was engorged with colostrum.. idk. I feel like there should be an easy way to get him to latch without being angry.

my daughter had problems latching too at the hospital for no real reason. so I was given a pump there and even now I mostly pump and feed her with a bottle. she's 6 weeks old and only had breastmilk. I breastfeed her directly maybe once a night now. but everyone's case is different. she could start to latch very soon and even if that's not the case you have other options. just don't give up, and stay positive hun.

I looked this up to show you . Yesterday I learned that there tummys are so small and that even though you feel like your not giving him enough you are and the more you try the more milk your body will naturally produce for the baby don't give up get there so many benefits of breast milk that only you can bless your baby with and I also learned that the baby should try to latch on like 8 times a day which is. A lot and overwhelming but with so many times the baby is def getting enough hope that helps and encourages you 😊😊😊

just take a breather hunny. most babies when you breastfeed will pretty much want to eat every couple hours since they are so small their stomachs are pretty small to. they don't need much to satisfy. Ino it's stressful that first week home you feel like you are doing everything wrong. just go with your instincts though! 9/10 you are right :) and when all else fails ask preggie ;) always got girls here who can try and help you
