So I've had morning sickness from week 3 up to just a couple weeks ago (probably week 22 or 23), and I'm on Diclegis. I don't feel as nauseous now but if I try to stop taking the Diclegis I can't sleep, it's like I've become dependent on it :/ the unisom in it has put me on a sleep schedule but if I stop taking it my hormones keep me awake. Should I just keep taking it or what? 😣

If you're not nauseous, I would try to stop taking it... but I know how hard it is. I don't take diclegis because with my insurance it was still over $400, but my doctor suggested B6 vitamin and unisom, which has the same effect. I have been having the same problem. The unisom really helped me sleep every night and I can't sleep without it. I have forced myself to only take it when I really need it for nausea, because I know it's not good to really take anything while you're pregnant even if it is doctor approved. Its really really hard to sleep, but I just deal with it anyways. I stay up until I can't anymore and I wake up every couple hours, but go to the bathroom and get back into bed. Sorry I don't know if this helps at all.... its really hard but I would only take it when you need it for its desired purpose, and just deal with the shittyness of not being able to sleep. I figure I won't be able to have a normal sleeping schedule when baby is here anyways, so I try to roll with the punches... good luck ❤

I totally want to try that but at the same time I work full time and if I don't get sleep I'm not sure how I'm going to function at work, especially since I don't get home until midnight 😦 I guess I could try weaning myself off it on my day off, but ahhhh that sounds so sucky haha @babymay2016

I took Diclegis my whole pregnancy and my baby was fine. :)

@shannonb95, I know it really is awful, but the reason they prescribe it in the first place is because the puking is worse for the baby than being able to keep it all down... but if you can keep it all down, the sleeplessness is just something that comes with it 😔 I totally feel you and I understand. I really want to take it but it is better for the baby for you to not be taking anything, unless you absolutely need it. I also have medicine for my migraines and it works like a charm. I wish to take it when even a slight headache comes on because then it prevents it from getting worse... but I force myself to only take it when absolutely necessary, and just deal with the minor ones. My doctor prescribed it, so people say I can take it whenever I want, but really its better to not be taking anything at all during pregnancy. It is miserable to not be able to sleep, but it gets better.. I only take the unisom when I am extremely nauseous to where I can't eat and feed the baby, and only take headache medicine when its so bad I can't even think or move or open my eyes. Neither of those would be good for me or baby, but hey our bodies were literally made to endure all this pain. I just try to think of it that way and do whatever I can to keep baby healthy even if I'm miserable. I hope it gets better for you.

@alayna22, @shannonb95 Oh yeah by all means I'm not saying that isn't possible, but it is just better to TRY to not take anything unless its necessary. It is just my opinion I suppose. There are people who smoke and drank their whole pregnancy and were fine, seriously.. and then there are people who do everything absolutely perfect and never take a Tylenol and lose their babies. Its all just a matter of choice and opinion...
