I swear my 16, 12, and 10 year old kids are so damn lazy. Quick to want something but don't wanna help do nothing half the time. It takes me to be damn near on my last breath for them to do a little more. I bet if I stopped doing everything all the way down to buying food they'd stop acting like spoiled little children on a pedestal. Where did I go wrong? Why can't they be those children that step up and help more being I'm struggling. Ugh! I love my children but omg I wanna lock myself in my room and leave them to fend for themselves for a week just to teach them that they need to do for themselves more then they do!

It's not just yours mine is the same way. 12 year old and 14 year old twin boys. I blame me for the deserving attitudes they have. I just want them to have everything I didn't have growing up.

Maybe that's what it is. I grew up with everything I wanted, so I give them everything they want. Not today. Im not moving. They gone learn today!

ugh I know how you feel, I have older kids too and they are lazy too, I've tried several chore apps and don't use any, what helped for me was to assign them rooms instead of individual tasks. what ever is in their assigned room or rooms they have to pick up regardless if they put it there or not. They don't do it I don't cook, they can eat cereal, sandwiches etc...also they have to walk to school the next day or wake up extra early to catch the bus, my favorite is pulling the plug on the wifi:-) I get really frustrated, I've cried in showers, closets behind close doors but my kids are my everything, all we can do is try our best

Great idea! I mean actually acting when they don't abide by the rules. I've assigned rooms and it doesn't work much. I'm seriously going to act on my threats from now on. Maybe that's why they take me for granted...I give but don't act on anything when they don't do chores and pick up after themselves.
