How common is it for your water to break before contractions? If it doesn't break before when does it? I'm just curious for when I get closer to my due date.
to me it doesn't hurt at all to have your water bag broke. if your water breaks by itself, go to the hospital in fact someone needs to drive you if that happens. If your back doesnt break I wouldn't wait until your contractions are 5 minutes apart either, I would wait until they are 20 minutes apart and go, only because you live far from a hospital. Every woman is different some go quick some take days. I had my first in 3 hours. don't worry you'll know when its time-:)
my water broke in my sleep, I didn't know until the morning. in my sleep I felt period cramps, and when I woke up I was soaked. went to the hospital at 7am. had my daughter at 11pm
I'm in the same boat. I'm so worried about everything and I'm 80% sure I'm gonna have a preterm baby and I'm an hour away from the hospital like I said hubby works so much and has the only car and all family is 20+ minutes away so it's just really stressful.
@mrsschutte1323, I guess that's all I can do huh? Doesn't help my anxiety any but I'll make due I guess lol.
That's why you need to call your dr with every little thing. No matter how dumb or small it seems. Because a lot of moms are gonna say "you'll know for sure when you're in labor" and it's honestly so annoying because a lot of women really don't know.
@mrsschutte1323, @mamabird it just seems so confusing... like what if I can't tell? If I can't tell, how would I know if it was labor if it just feels like Braxton Hicks and aches especially when I haven't even felt anything like Braxton Hicks I don't think? I guess I'm just the type of person that likes to know everything and have control even though I know it never works out that way when you have a baby...
@missyowl92, my hospital is an hour away hubby works five minutes away and I was told that by the time contractions are 10 minutes apart I should already be on my way there. And a lot of moms don't even have contractions when they go into labor. A lot only have Braxton hicks and back pain and menstural like cramps so make sure you call your doctor with anything. I read that only like 25% of women have their waters break before they get to the hospital or are about the push. So that's not always a reliable way to tell if your in labor
everyone is different I've had 8 kids and never once did my bag break on its own, the ob always had to manually break my bag, when that happens the pain gets real
my hospital was 30 minutes away when I went into labor it was 3 am on January 4th & I didn't have my son till the next day at 3 am
when you're contractions are 5 minutes apart it doesn't mean you'll have your baby right away you could still be in labor for hours I would warn him when they got to 10 or 15 minutes apart
@aek91, @_stayingparkerstrong_ so if my water doesn't break, when will I know to go to the hospital? I read when contractions are 5 minutes apart but the hospital I'm going to is about 15 minutes away and my hubby works 45 minutes away. When should I call him?
I mean I guess everyone is different so it may hurt you but to me it doesn't hurt
@aek91, a girl I know had hers broken and she said it kind of hurt so I was a little nervous in case that happens to me.
no its a long stick they stick it in there & it feels like you peed yourself
I've had three kids my water has only broken on its own once I was 10cm dilated & my nurse had her fingers in my vag checking me
if it doesn't break they break it for you at the hospital
Water...
When did anyone's water break? Usually before or right away with labor? I'm so scared my water will break at work or something.

When making bread do you HAVE let it double before you punch it down and split it?
Just out of curiosity...what does it feel like when your waters break? Can you feel before it happens like you need a wee? Mine haven't gone but I'm just curious 😊
Has anyone ever had to be induced an had to get there water broken by their doctor, if so can you tell me how does it feel, do it hurt, can you feel it, do they give you an epidural before they do it an also do they give you an epidural before your pitocin or can you ask for it before then?? Really need answers bc I'm so lost this my first time ever getting induced after 2 kids an first time hearing if they might have to break my water I'm not ready for that if it leads to pain.
