If my baby has measured over a week further along in ultrasounds than what I am going by my lmp, why do I still have the same due date? I see a lot of ladies on here talking about how much their doctor changes their due date they've never said anything about changing mine. I'm fine with it, I'm just curious and maybe they're just expecting me to have a big baby.

Well because if could mean your baby had a little growth spurt or something. My baby has measured (on ultrasound) bigger and smaller at different times but they kept my first ultrasound due date because that is the most accurate

Well the last 2 or 3 he's been bigger. Like he's probably close to 4 lbs right now. Oh well I guess if he's meant to come before feb 4th he will.

@babyjjsmommy, Wow close to 4 lbs? My baby is approximately 5 lbs 9 ozs and I am due December 29. Maybe he will slow down

Babies grow at different rates after the first trimester so their size is not a good indicator of EDD. Plus all of that weight and length stuff is a bit of a guess. I had an ultrasound at 41 weeks and they guesstimated a weight but then told me it could be off by a pound in either direction :)

Yeah, he was 2.5 lbs at 24 weeks and at 20 he was 15.7 oz so he jumped that much in a month. Sooo at that rate he's probably pretty close to 4. Definitely feels like it. You can feel his body parts through my belly it's so strange. That part may be normal, but everyone thinks it's crazy that feels my belly.

@ligermama, I figured that, it's just my first baby so I'm new to this and just thought it was odd how much I've seen people's doctors changing their due dates after an ultrasound. It's probably just different doctors and different ways of doing things.

Definitely! My due date was changed based on the first ultrasound. But I insisted they change it to make it later because we were trying so I know the exact date I conceived and as a FTM I knew I was likely to go late and did not want to be induced based on the wrong date!

Yeah, that's why I haven't said anything! And my doctor isn't big on inducing at all, thank god. I mean don't get me wrong I can't wait to have him but I'd rather him stay in there as long as he needs to. They changed my sister at the very end and induced her two and half weeks earlier than her original due date and baby was very jaundiced and had low blood sugar had to stay on nicu 2 days.
