Who got the flu shot and/or tdap vaccine in their 3rd trimester? I'm 38 weeks and my Dr gave me prescriptions for both. I'm pretty sure I'll get the tdap, but on the fence about the flu shot. I've never gotten it before, and also haven't gotten the flu in years (I know it's for the baby though).
this is such an important question for me because I've been contemplating getting the flu shot I'll ficw birth in the dead center of winter but I'm scared. I also don't know when the best time to get either of the shots would be I'm 31 weeks and 3 days and I'm being induced when I'm 39 weeks and I've been putting it off because I just don't know ;-;
I got the flu shot on the 6th. I didn't get it with my first but I want pregnant during flu season so it wasn't offered. if you do decide to get it do not get the nasal one. I had to get the shot at my ob's office because the HM(navy "doctor") tried saying I had to get the nasal one and you're not supposed to when pregnant or around children that are too young to be vaccinated. I haven't been sick in years and I get the shot every year.
I got my flu shot on November 10th. and i haven't gotten one done in years. I hate shots but they said it's best for the baby so i did it.
@varduim, I haven't had the flu in years, but still got the vaccine. The idea behind getting vaccines while your pregnant and not after birth is because you pass antibodies that protect your baby until they can be vaccinated :)
The flu shot will protect your baby from getting the flu for up to 6 months after birth and the tdap is crucial in protecting the baby from whooping cough @varduim
I didn't get the flu shot with my first and I didn't get it this time around. I've never had the flu and haven't had the shot in 8 yrs. the tdap I'm getting after I give birth.
I'm 25 weeks and my doctor asked me today about them I said no to flu but I'm getting the tdap when I turn 28 weeks
I got them both as kid my husband and kids.
