Has anyone taken the early blood test to find out your baby's gender? I read you can do it as early as 8 weeks.

my Dr said they can do it at 11 weeks. they offered it to me so I'll know in 3-4 days more days

@summerbaby16, My doctor wouldn't order it initially because he said it's only called for if there's a risk or a pregnancy over the age of 35. However, once I was determined high risk because of my baby's condition, I was given the option of the Harmony test or an Amnio to check for chromosomal defects. Even though it was ordered, my insurance wouldn't cover it and it was $135. Luckily no chromosome defects and bonus I found out I'm having a boy

and i know it checks for more than just the gender.

unfortunatly. mine was a two part test. they drew blood at 9 weeks and then again at the end of 10 weeks. then they sent it out and it took awhile to get the results back but it was worth it. i forget what the test was called tho. it wasnt the harmony test it was called something different

10 weeks! I guess it depends on your doctor if he will let you do it!

and @mrsschutte1323. is right, most drs won't do it unless you or your partner are over the age of I think 35 while pregnant or if you have chromosome diseases in either family history. and usually insurance won't pay for it unless it's medically necessary.. like I'm pretty sure I will have to pay for the harmony test I took yesterday, I just haven't gotten a bill yet, but it's not too expensive.

@316ftm, it took three weeks to get the results?

I'm 13 weeks, and he just feels better that all his patients get it. he likes that his patients are prepared in case their child is born with down syndrome or any other chromosome disease. it's just a plus that you can find out gender!!

i took the test at 9 weeks and found out it was a girl at 12 weeks. still a girl at my anatomy scan.

Oh no of corse it's not dangerous or anything my doctor just said that the only bother to do it if they think something is wrong or might be wrong.. That's just what my doctor said so maybe ask our doctor and see if they will do one for you.

@mrsschutte1323, do you know why? I read that it's not dangerous for baby because they just draw your blood.

Yes I took a harmony test. It was free and told me my baby's gender and that she was perfectly healthy :)

I just took mine yesterday!!! I get the results hopefully next week. my Dr insists on it being done with every pregnancy

My doctor said that most Drs won't do it unless they think theres a chromosomal problem with the baby. My doctor never did one.
