Question ladies, I have to take my glucose test tomorrow. I have insurance now and through out this whole pregnancy. But for some reason my local labcore is charging me $900 for some test that was ran back in August (I was very much pregnant in August w/insurance). Now my question is if they deny me tomorrow (if they can even do that) can I refuse to take the glucose test if that's the only place that can take the test? I definitely don't have not even half to pay them back. I have no idea why my insurance didn't cover it. I really really don't want to not take this test especially since I'm already over weight and my father is diabetic. I haven't gained any weight this pregnancy and I haven't had a problem with my sugar level but just want to make sure.

I think you can deny it but I really wouldn't risk it. I got a $500 bill from LapCorp (those bastards!) but I just did a payment plan and it really helped a lot. Better to pay a small amount at a time than have it go to collections and turn into debt.

You can deny it(your ob tests sugar in your urine at your appraisal

But it's better to be safe than sorry

And I'd be calling the insurance to see why it wasn't covered. heck, tell the place you're taking it up with the insurance but you can pay x amount that day. even $20 is usually good towards it because you're paying it.

You can tell them why you wanna wait,to make sure your insurance is active. I didn't take mine until 30 weeks . As long as you feel ok. If you feel weird or not yourself at any point just call your dr

if I go now my insurance is very much active but its the past due amount that I'm worried THEY won't see me. if I can't go to a different lab to get tested then I'm just going to have to deny it.

I would check into why you were charged that if you had insurance it's probably just a mistake. If you decide to not get the test at all keep an eye out for warning signs of diabetes. Rapid weight gain, swelling, dizziness, fundal height.. Etc.I hope they don't deny you, but maybe if you set up a payment plan and pay a little bit at a time if they say your debt is valid#. Maybe they will give you the test?

Just a heads up. Lab Corp is really bad about billing your insurance instead of you. They're usually too lazy too look up the billing info for your insurance but have your address on file easy from the forms you fill out in the office. They've billed me several times. You have to call your insurance company. Tell them you got a bill sent to you. They ask for a few numbers off the bill and then it's taken care of. Super easy! (:

@nati86, no problem. Your insurance company should have a 24hr #. If not just call them before your appt tomorrow. And then call lab Corp before you get there. Let them know they billed you on accident instead of your insurance and that you contacted your insurance and they're handling the bill and make sure you can still be seen! They tried to charge me for my strep B test. Like $300! And they also tried to charge me for my papsmear and whatever other cultures that were done during like the 4th month of pregnancy!
