My doctor wanted me to be induced out of fear for my baby being too large. (I'm 4ft8 inches and regular weight 9lbs) he was measuring 6lbs 1oz. I was reluctant but scheduled so i could have a chance to deliver vaginally.
I went in at 9pm finally got a room at about 10:30. After getting settled, she placed the medicine (cytotec, i think thats the name) in my vagina to soften cervix. I dilated from 1 to 2. But the baby was distressed so she removed the meds. My doc broke my water then contractions got painful. I got the epidural at 4 am and started pitocin. I was dilated to a 5. they noticed baby's head was trying to come though but was swelling a bit. But wasnt a cause for alarm yet. Things progresses quickly but my contractions were too far apart. They upped my pitocin and i dilated to 7. After a few hours i dilated to 8cm around 11am. I stalled there for a while and my doc noticed both cervix and baby head was swelling. He was stuck and couldnt get through my pelvis. We gave it 2 more hours to progress but still nothing. We scheduled a csection. It went well! Baby head was swollen, his face and eyes were swollen too. Baby was 7lbs 7 ounces and besides the swelling perfectly healthy. So ultimately baby was just too big for me vaginally, but i tried and he is healthy. Glad i listened to my doctor.
I was only 2 days ahead of my due date. @varduim, and his head was sooo swollen from trying to fit through my cervix. He just couldnt fit. I talked to a few people online about it but im very very small. My hips and pelvis is only 32 or 33 inches wide
I'm so glad both you and baby are healthy. My Dr is also concerned that my baby will be too large for me. How far along were you when she chose to induce you? I'm 37.5 and have an appt next Thursday. My Dr said if I'm 3cm dialated then she will induce me..
Congratulations! glad you shared your story with us!!!!
