I feel the same way! I live in Wisconsin. We get horrible winters and weather below zero. It's not like my daughter can miss going to the doctor, ya know? Have to take her outside for her appointments. Am I supposed to let her freeze?

get a car seat cover! I have one the covers the whole thing. and I'll just put a blanket in with her. I can take a picture to show you what kind I have!

Thank you!! They expect you to take it off with the door wide open put the baby in the car seat & then close the door obviously they don't know how damn cold it gets outside. Then when you get to where you're going they expect you to open the door in the freezing cold out the coat back on & be on your way. What's the point might as well just take the baby out with no damn coat!

@annabellesmommy, what about when they aren't in infant carriers anymore? They don't have car seat covers for those

then I'm not sure. but for while she is in an infant one this is what I'll be using for the winter!

That's what I'm saying @aek91 I have a carseat cover for her infant seat. but nothing for when we switch. and the only time we leave the house is when I go to take her to the baby sitters when I have to work, which is like a 10 minute drive. I'm not about to do all the coat taking on and off during a blizzard... @taija

@annabellesmommy, I had for my son but he's out of infant carriers he's in a convertible car seat now no more car seat covers.

I'm a certified car seat tech. A nice blanket can do just as much as coat can! Just cover them up nice and cozy. It's especially important in winter because of how much more likely you are to get into an accident!

and then you have to think about what happens if I was to get into an accident? then my daughter has no coat on, more than likely that blanket will no longer be covering her and what if I am incapable of getting to her? and you never know how long it could be till help arrives. it's just a stressful topic for me lol. @thatmamagrace

Exactly!! When I had my first baby I did it & he got really sick after that I never took his coat off & put him in his car seat I mean he was so sick I had to take him to the er he had pneumonia & developed asthma from it. My other baby I never did that I mean I guess it's realistic if you have some one driving you around all the time but if you live in the real world or are a single mom you don't always have people driving you around so I makes no sense at all

my sister who lives in Wisconsin has a 3 year old she has always used nice warm blankets. a few extra minutes putting a coat of once out of the carseat is not a big deal considering that wearing a big coat in not safe in a car seat. my sister always keeps extra blankets in the car if her daughter is still cold.

It's better for her to be strapped in without the compression created by a winter coat than to be uncovered during an accident. The compression would most likely eject her from her seat killing her instantly. Being cold during an accident is better than dead.

I agree with you . I'm sorry I'm not using a blanket it may be proving to be "safe" but as a mother we are all entitled to our decisions & this one is something I will not do ! People can argue with me about how I'm putting my baby in danger but idc it's too damn cold for a freaking blanket & those car seat covers just don't do much for me honestly
