My daughter's pediatrician says she isnt gaining enough weight and wants me to use formula to supplement. I really dont want to use formula. I have breastfed her since she was born which was a month ago. she was born at 7lbs 2oz lost to 6lbs and is now 7lbs 6 oz 1 month later. has anyone else experienced this? suggestions? ??
@audranb87, the same thing happen to me she was latching and all but wasn't getting enough so they told me I had to supplement that lasted two days until I started pumping and making sure she was eating as much as she needed to my daughter lost a lb in two days so that really scared me but now she is doing much better I would try pumping and giving it to her in a bottle so u know she's getting enough milk!!! Trust me that's what made my daughter to better
try looking up some recipes to boost production, I've heard peanut butter and almonds help with production, and there's smoothies and shakes you can make at home to try :) you might be able to get her pediatrician to prescribe you a need for a hospital grade pump for better pumping (also what I had to do. hand pump I got a little, an electronic one works better)
I've seen them. they say the latch is perfect and my supply is good. I pump amd dont get much at all.
I had the same problem, and I produce a LOT of milk. encouragement can cause my little girl have trouble latching. try pumping and feeding from a bottle, that way you can track and adjust her intake, I had to with my little Arya, but I still let her take from tap when we are home for bonding and to help out with bottle cleaning, but seeing a consultant is a great idea of you don't want to feed from a bottle, I'm like you, I don't want to use formula if I can keep from it
@audranb87, take a warm shower and take the pump with u to ur bathroom let warm water run all over ur boobs and as soon as u get out turn the pump on and that should make the milk come easy:)
