Have a bit of situation at my work ... The senior carer just sits on her bum while I do all the work answer all the buzzers and do all the night time checks of an 18 resident home. my manger expects me to do a 12 hour night shift and go to training in the morning with no sleep. I refused to do this but don't know if I was within my right to. Added to this my manger is aware I'm pregnant and so is the senior carer. It's just this one senior the other senior does the hoist and doesn't expect me to do it all on my own!

work places aren't really that bothered untill you reach 12 weeks and got a scan these days! There's not much you can do untill you have a midwife appointment

I run a busy office all by my self all day and work with children under 3 years. I'm still doing this now and will be up untill 38 weeks pregnant so I wouldn't worry to much. You'll be fine 👍

You will be fine. You don't have to stop your life when you're pregnant. They say you can continue with any thing that you normally do (unless it'd ridiculously dangerous obviously) I exercise and weight train with kettlebels, my midwife said it's fine to continue. I'm 29 weeks and have been doing it my entire pregnancy. your baby is well protected and your body can cope with it. It's what you were designed for as a woman !

To be honest I am a team leader on a high end dementia unit and am still expected to maintain the same work load but this is fine with me. Even past 12 weeks the way my employer sees it is unfortunately there is no such thing as light duties within care. I am able to hoist etc depending on how compliant the person is but generally just do it anyway regardless. I'm not planning on leaving for maternity until 38 weeks but everybody is difference. They shouldn't expect you to attending training after a nightshift really regardless of pregnancy but I suppose that depends on the length of your shift and the length of your training.

You need to have a risk assessment put in place xx

Doing a 12 hour night shift then them asking to do training in the morning straight after is totally unexceptable. I wouldn't do that not pregnant I'm afraid. I'm a aux nurse in a hospital and no way in hell would they expect anyone to do that. X @tinytinylittleone

I agree. not everyone is superwoman either. I have hyperemesis and can't even leave the house. some of you may be feeling great and able to continue with normal day to day activities but it's fair to accept that others can't. even though they may want to. a risk assessment is a definite must and talk to HR and possibly your occupational health people. If you feel you are putting yourself or your pregnancy at risk this needs addressing and discussion should be had. take care of number 1 we are all different.

Pregnant or not. Workers must have a period of rest between shifts! I'm not quite sure but that period of rest must be enough for you to get 8 hours of sleep and enough time to get from and to work! Talk to HR! Just be sure that this is something they must adhere to regardless of pregnancies or health issues! But being pregnant, I would insist to have enough time between shifts to get amount of sleep! Especially in the first and last trimester because it's difficult enough to get rest as it is! Put your foot down. You're not asking for special treatment

When I was in my first trimester I was sooo so tired! It was really rough (though it's nothing compared to the sleep deprivation when baby is here ☺️ but those little squishes are totally worth it)

Thank you so much. I'm not asking for special treatment or to be wrapped in cotton wool but I need rest like everyone else who has just worked 12 hours. There should because of my condition circumstances, be a risk assessment in place x

The load is meant to be shared I think the senior is taking advantage of my good nature
