Found out my baby has a very bad lip tie the other day so I have been trying to nurse with a nipped shield to help till we go to the doctors to get it corrected.. Any tips for using the nipped shield and what's the best was to ensure they are getting lots of milk?

Thank you for posting this because if not I wouldn't know there was such a thing. I just started research all about lip ties. Then I looked in my sons mouth and sure enough he has a pretty big one and its hereditary. So I looked in my mouth, yep he got it from me. Now I'm hoping this is the solution to our breastfeeding problems along with slow weight gain.

Oh wow!! I'm so glad I posted this!! Sorry about your son having problems my baby girl won't even nurse because she can't get anything when she tries. We are going in tomorrow to see if they can fix it. Have you seen a LC or Ped about it?

Glad I looked up this post to see if you had responded. I actually saw the LC on Friday. She told me that since I'm not having any problems with nursing then it's not an issue. My son nurses but his weight gain was very slow the first 5 weeks. Idk he has his 2 mth check up coming this week so I'm gonna bring it up to his PED. And I'm sorry your daughter won't nurse I hope all gets fixed. But at least you caught it now so you can nurse until your hearts content. @tater4414

I would definitely bring it up to his Ped! We went and she said she had one but said it wasn't bad enough to try and revise right now and showed me how to work around it. Now I'm trying to get my milk supply up and help her nurse better! @blue_87

Well I wish you all the luck with your milk supply. You can try fenugreek or mothers milk tea. Make sure to stay hydrated. Lots of mommies suggest Gatorade, personally I like coconut water theres more electrolytes and less sugar. I also eat oatmeal with a tablespoon of chia seed. I'm not sure if it really helps but mentally it keeps me happy thinking it does plus it's good for me lol so I just keep doing it. Kellymom.com is also a great place to look up info as far as milk supply goes. And if you already know all this stuff well then you're on the right path. 😊 @tater4414
