I worked with a girl who worked all the way up until labor and then came back to work right after her kids were born

I couldn't do it. With my youngest cousin my aunt left work went to the hospital delivered her then went back. That was also her 4th baby too.

Probably depends on your work level. I work at a desk and I'm ready to be done. The office chairs kill my back by the end of the day

@arijane316, I applaud her for sure! But my manager has also ignored all my Dr's requests & mine as well. I actually work at a truck stop & have had to clean showers with chemicals. In one shift I cleaned 65 showers & had to do other tasks as well. I can't tell my boss I am ready to take off though because he won't let me so I'm gonna have to have my dr fax them a letter.

There are some women that can work all the way up until they have their baby but haha I was in so much pain with my first two I lasted until 36 weeks and my second was 35 weeks

This is my first & I think I've done good to make it to 38 weeks @reaganmommy2015 lol with so much movement & bending I can't do it anymore. Plus we're in the process of having a new double wide put in on our property so that's not helping either.

38 weeks is amazing! Idk what is wrong with our country that we don't have more time or consideration for maternity leave.

It's crazy to me too. Luckily I get to use 2 weeks paid vacation as part of my maternity leave but most women get nothing @mommabird

That's not right your manager has to respect your doctor's orders. he/she doesn't have priority over your doctor whether they like it or not.

When I first found out I was pregnant my dr gave me a note with restrictions on it & it actually caused a lot of problems at work. Our restaurant manager posted it publicly on Facebook in a status & it seems since then nobody cares what my dr has to say so I'm gonna go on leave a week early & I don't care what they have to say @arijane316

That's messed up. you could have taken that to corporate

I tried to & HR said it was her personal Facebook & they had no control over what was put on there. I called a corporate district manager & they took care of it but it wasn't the first time she had bashed me on social media @arijane316

Oh that is so not true that they don't have control over Personal social media accounts. The minute someone posts something work related on their personal page, it becomes open to corporate scrutiny! I'm sure they also have some type of morality clause in the employee handbook, even if they aren't with the times enough to have social media addressed. If you really cared, you could call back and throw in the word lawyer. See how fast it becomes their top priority!

@mommabird, oh I when I called our district managers boss & told him I had already contacted a lawyer it got serious real quick! All of that mess is probably one reason I won't be going back once I have Carter. The bad part about it was she tagged 99% of the employees plus the managers including our general manager but they're too buddy buddy for him to do anything about it.
