My experience with breastfeeding so far: my baby wouldn't latch right, I went through engorgement, my nipples got severely chapped and feeding him was incredibly painful, it has been a lot of work to pump during work, and I've had clogged ducts; I miss wine and coffee. And yet...I love breastfeeding, there's nothing more rewarding than knowing I'm providing the very best for my little Nathan I feel so empowered to know I went through all of this and I still haven't given up. IM NOT HATING ON MOMS THAT GIVE THEIR BABIES FORMULA (I don't believe in criticizing other moms' choices). I'm mainly writing this to help encourage and praise all the mommies out there who are currently struggling with breastfeeding and who can relate.
@ya0515 good job! It's definitely not easy. It's nice to hear you never gave up :)
Yea I'm aware of how to drink while breastfeeding I investigated on it all also on coffee. It's just my personal choice to not drink coffee while breastfeeding because of the caffeine and unless I don't "feel" the buzz I don't see the point in drinking. So I know I could have 1 or two beers or a bit of wine but that's just not good enough for me lol 😄
It was so hard for me in the beginning. She wouldn't latch until 7 weeks. It was excruciatingly painful but I kept going for her. Now she's 6 months and still exclusively breastfed.
I breastfeed and I drink coffee daily. I also have a few beers with my husband every not and then! The rule is, if you're sober enough to drive then you're sober enough to breastfeed! Also you don't have to "pump and dump" once you feel sober then the alcohol is out of your milk and you're good to breastfeed! Also my daughter and son both wouldn't latch at first and we discovered they were tongue tied, so they both got the tie cut and it helped so much. They were both then able to breastfeed amazingly! It made a world of difference and most doctors don't check for a tongue tie but you can easily check yourself! Also congrats! You're doing amazing girl :) be proud of yourself!
i breastfeed every 2 hours around the clock and I have a cup or two of coffee a day and I've had a small coffee liquor drink and baby is doing perfect🙌
I had a similar breastfeeding experience too. I cried the first 3 days because of the pain. I got some nipple ointment and I toughened up and things are going great now
you can have both wine and coffee. in fact, as long as you don't feel tipsy, you can drink and not have to pump and dump. also, have you had baby evaluated for a lip or tongue tie? could be the cause of pain
@natsmommy Thank you! everyone even the Dr's always told me no it won't hurt until I went to ER one night and that nurse said he'll yes it hurts but it'll get better
