I have a son and then had a miscarriage at 6-7 weeks.. it didn't feel the same to me at all.. contractions start out not so much painful but just uncomfortable. your whole stomach hardens for a few seconds then releases... and with my miscarriage I had cramps that were low and felt like period pain. contractions you would feel through your whole abdomen. that's how it was for me anyway. hope that helps

and contractions are WAY worse.. different but worse.. my son was almost 9lbs and I didn't have any drugs.. this baby I'm getting whatever drugs I can get haha

contractions pain progress as you dilate.. at first it wasn't bad at all..then it hurt.. then I started to have convulsions lol at least that's what my hubby tells me. I mean you live and I could prob do it again but DEFINITELY won't be doing it again if I don't have to this time. it ruined birth for me. I couldn't enjoy my son right away because I was in so much pain and felt like I got ran over by a bus.

my advice.. take it one cm at a time.. but remember that with each cm the pain gets worse (noone told me that).. if your labor is going fast then you can probably handle it no problem..if your starting to get worn out you may want something because you will need energy to push.
