so I ordered delivery earlier and stepped outside to pay the lady and get my food since I have 2 cats and can't leave the door open. well I locked myself out of my apartment. there were no signs anywhere for who to call if locked out, so the delivery girl called the MPs on her phone and let me talk to them, then she drove me to the fire station because that's where the MPs told me to go. she went to make another delivery while one of the firemen went and unlocked the key office across post to get me a spare key, and then she came back to drive me back to my house. and she gave me a free soda because at the fire department I had to talk to the MPs and they asked if there was someone else home to unlock the door and said no. they asked for my (nonexistent) husbands information and I got upset when I had to say (again) that I was a single pregnant soldier so I have an apartment alone I don't live in the barracks and I don't have a husband. so I started crying.

while it was a kind of stressful situation, I'm glad that super nice German girl stayed and helped me out. she restored my faith in people this evening.

Plus I got locked out in house slippers, basketball shorts with some legs that haven't been shaved in weeks, and my tan uniform shirt 😨

it really was. she was so sweet about the whole situation @frances.gln92 I know Germans have the good Samaritan traffic law, but most of the time they're very to the point and the ones who work on post will just be like "tough shit" if it's inconvenient or something for them a lot of times
