Is it normal for Doctor to do a pap when you go for your first appointment if you've never had one?

They did a pap today guys! I totally overreacted about the whole thing lol. It felt like nothing really... Just uncomfortable.

Just so you know I did research and it is 21..... If you aren't pregnant. It is normally a requirement if you are pregnant because if you do have a sexually transmitted disease (not saying you do or you could or assuming anything) it can cause harm to your baby if never detected

@tiffr5, I was 18 pregnant with my first and I got a pap. It doesn't hurt and it's honestly best to have one. It will show if anything is abnormal. For example I have high grade precancerous cells on my cervix. Wouldnt have found out if I hadn't gotten a pap

I've been getting paps since I was 18 I guess it's different every where they do it every year or two I think

What! U have to be a certain age to have a pap? Ive never even heard of that. The things you learn from Preggie each day. I think I had my first when I was 16, probably cause I was pregnant, but I always thought it was a requirement of pregnancy.

Make sure you tell them you're 20! If they overlook your chart they'll probably just assume and do it. When I went the doc said he'd do a pap smear but asked my age and when I told him I was 20 he said oh never mind. I was like yay! lol

yup, especially if it's been a while since your last one...mine didn't hurt just a bit uncomfortable but it's quick

let them know. I'm 20 also. they won't do it. you have to be 21 for some reason. I heard it isn't pleasant so I'm glad to be 20! lol
