I got it at about 5 cm. I think that's normal but idk for sure it was my first baby. getting it sucked I won't lie. but totally worth it. I wish I would have gotten it a bit sooner I think I would have been better off. But I progressed really fast
@caseysmommy, oh it hurts but in all honesty the epidural isn't always worth it....they will give you a life time of back pain😐especially in winter omg!!!! Some times its best to try as much as you can natural cause pain is Their only for a few or several hrs lol but having back pain sucks...i wish i wouldn't of gotten it because i held threw for so long with out it she was delivered almost an hr after i got it😒should of just not gotten it lol i felt it all and all it did was fuck up my back....but it does ease up the pain
Lol i think some of them don't let you get one after 7 or 8 cm cause it takes 20-30 mins for it work I'm not sure a lot has changed now i gave birth to my first in 2010 and has everything changed since then lol...you will know as soon as you get ur contractions if its to much for you to handle and be like dam its just going to get worse i might as well get it now.... I know how you feel all i cared about was the pain aint even gone lie😐i wasnt the type to be like baby get out now 😂😂😂nope i was like stay in and bake as much as you can i can wait lol
I got a shot of sadall it was nice I slept a long time but I got a epidural at 3 centimeters which took 15 hours to get to! I'm pretty sure after 3 centimeters you can get it anytime. just because you get it doesn't mean you'll have back pain I have none and I know a lot of people who do have any but I know some how do so it just depends on your body
they offered it. tell them your not sure if you want a epidural and see if they will let you try something else. I didn't want to have drugs but I was in labor for 32 hours I needed them plus ended up having a c section so I was getting them either way
i had no negative effects or back pain. took 45 minutes to do the epidural. of course your a tad sore after but it left. I told them I was afraid of the epidural and didn't know what I wanted (I admit I had also felt a little shamed by others for not wanting to do it all natural but it hurt) and they sent up a woman from anesthesia who explained exactly what they do, how it works, possible side effects, everything! she was great and it really helped me decide
