When you give birth, do they always put a catheter in? if so, does it hurt?! I'm like freaking…

I've regrettably looked up pictures of epidurals and catheters and I'm freaking myself out haha

don't when you get the epidural it feels like a pintch or sting on the back and you can't even feel them put the catheter in or out and when you actually get up to pee after labor and the epidural wears off it feels like your legs were asleep

I had an epidural so I felt nothing at all after it, getting the epidural feels like a very sharp sting then it feels better. 😂 They did give me one after birth because I couldn't empty my bladder and they wanted me to, so I got a quick in-out catheter and it did not feel too comfortable at all, but after it was out it was all good.

idk if they give you one if you don't get an epidural though. they said they were giving me one since I wouldn't know if I had to pee or not, since you're essentially numb from the waist down.

Honestly the catheter was the worst part of birth for me... I don't think they deflated it before taking it out and I couldn't pee for 2 weeks. It hurt so bad to go I would hold my pee until it made me sick.

@frances.gln92, @their.bomb.ass.mom, I've heard they numb you up before sticking the epidural in...so I'm not too worried about that. I'm fine with pain mostly, just really nervous.

They might have numbed me, but the epidural still fairly hurt a bit. Not like god awful pain, but it did sting, plus it didn't help that I was having contractions during it and I had to sit up.

I was lifting my but and peeing in a bed pan until I couldent no more after they gave me epidural so they suggested a cathator And it was The worst! I kept asking them to take it out but I guess after its in You have to push it out with the baby and i hated it, hurt soooo bad coming out This time around I'll be way more prepared not to get a cathator Makes me scared to get old!

Even having the epidural I felt them put it in the little hole felt like it was being ripped open ugh I gotta stop I'm making vag quench 😩

Only if you have an epidural. I went all natural and didn't have a catheter.

I know a girl who has to wear an adult diapers for the next 6yrs because they ripped her urethra. her labor went all wrong ended up in a csection. the same day of her labor another one of the Dr patient died. she can't even sue because the Dr committed suicide a month later. the catheter and stiches are my biggest fear.

no they only put cath in if you get an epidural or have csection
