So I'm having a flu shot dilemma.
My mother miscarried my little brother 13 years ago at 7 months pregnant. She swears up and down that the reason she miscarried is because she got the flu shot a couple days before he passed.
She all but begged me not to get the shot because she's afraid of losing her granddaughter the same way she lost her son.
Now, I don't really believe that he passed because she got the shot but I had decided to respect her wishes and not get it.
My nurse made me feel like absolute sh** for saying no and ever since then I've been debating whether or not to just get it. I've never had one before and I've only had the flu once and my brother, husband, and sil, who all had the shot got it the same year.
I guess I'm just here looking for opinions on the situation, not an answer necessarily. Did you get the shot/didn't you. Why or why not? Have you had it/not had it with other pregnancies, how did it go?
I know it seems like such a small thing but my mother is mad at herself to this day for getting it and she's talked to me multiple times about not doing it. I'm just feeling so torn :/
luckily I don't work so there's less chance of me being exposed if I decide not to get it. thanks everyone for your input ♡♡. The nurse just gave me such a dirty look that it seemed like every single pregnant person has it besides me.
I got the shot on Friday but it was the inactivated virus version which gives me less of a chance of catching a cold afterwards. If you're leaning towards not getting it just drink lots of vitamin c and wash your hands frequently. I didn't want to get it but I come in contact with a lot of people at work 😕
I refused to get it. I have read so many mixed things about it and I've heard and witnessed people get sick after the flu shot. I'm overly paranoid, I just refused to get it. I've never gotten one and I don't even know how my body would react with the shot so I rather avoid it all around.
I haven't had the flu shot since I was a kid and have only had the flu like twice. It's not a necessary vaccine like polio or whooping cough. The nurse is an ass lol.
They recommend that you get it while pregnant so the baby will have immunity to it by the time the baby is born
@leshea, they actually recommend pregnant women to get it so nothing happens to the baby
I didn't even know you could get the shot while pregnant, My Dr. automatically said after the baby you can get a flu shot and I never questiond it...
I got the flu shot when I was pregnant with my daughter but I delivered like a week or so after I got it
I'm not getting it, and the people who give them ALWAYS act like that...they did 4 years ago when I was getting my Depo shot too. Don't feel guilty, just get it later...it will make your mom at ease and it's not a big deal to wait.
I didnt get it. Ive never gotten a flu shot and cant remember the last time i got the flu
I never got the flu shot and I've never had the flu. I did get the shot while I was pregnant and I still didn't get it. I got it because of the protection it provides the baby when he or she is born. It's a personal choice. Don't let anyone make you feel bad about getting it or not. It's your decision.
I didn't get flu shot too many people get sick that get it and I'm never sick !
I didn't get the flu shot and no one asked me to while I was pregnant!
I didn't get the flu or whooping cough shot during both my pregnancies and am glad I didn't. I know doctors who don't even get flu shots. One of my OB's is pregnant and she declined the shot for herself. I definitely don't think it's mandatory and I do believe it can get you sick, especially seeing how it administers the virus into you.
hey i think its fine to wait until you give birth to get it. it wont hurt you to wait. i really dont want to get it pregnant either. thats really our choice. i dont get this shot every year anyway lol and i never had flu
Short Luteal Phase?
I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.
Flu shot is necessary??
I took my son to his new pediatrician yesterday. I loved her! Except for one thing. She said to go back in 4 months so my son gets his flu shot. I told her we don't get the flu shot and she said he has to because I'm having a baby soon and that's what's best. Really? He got the tdap and I'm getting the tdap in two weeks but is the flu shot really necessary? I've always been against getting it. What are your thoughts?
Did you ladies get the flu shot ?!? My doctor recommended it but I haven't got it yet
How many moms are against the flu shot ? I haven't got it and my son hasn't either and I'm really not planning to. But so far an infant died already here in California because of the flu. So I'm scared
Take your vitamin c and probiotics, but I wouldn't get the shot. Anything you can do to avoid unnecessary exposure to toxins is best while pregnant, I think. Nurses and doctors are not always right about everything.
