my best friend is having a baby really soon and randomly asked me today; "do they test to see if you smoked pot after the baby is born..." she's freaking out and thinks she's gotta get her baby taken from her. I asked why she smoked then and she said she couldn't even keep any food down. Everytime she ate it would come up &&& it rly helped her keep food down .... I didn't know how to answer so I'm just curious if any of you guys know..

Sigh... There's other remedies for sickness. If they see any any type of withdrawal from the baby they might. Smh!! I'm so sorry this just really upsets me.... Why even put your baby in that situation.

If she's on WTE there's a group called ganja mamas, I'd direct her there for all questions and concerns. Also it depends on if she told her OB she was a smoker (cigs or pot), if they have any suspicions, or even the hospital she delivers at. Normally they won't just take your baby, they'll (cps) do a walk through of your home to make sure it is safe for a baby, and maybe a few drug tests after that point. It really varies state to state though.

yes, they do test when the baby is born. If you test positive they will test baby and if baby does too, they are required by law to report it and a social will be at your hospital room. Child protective services WILL be involved.

Is she constantly smoking or has it been awhile? If she tests positive and baby does they'll call someone it's not as simple as baby taken away there will be other steps too

my sister smoked pot throughout her whole pregnancy with my niece because she couldn't keep anything down either I live in Michigan where pot us still illegal and my niece was tested because my sister tested negative because she stopped smoking about 2 months before she gave birth andy niece is perfectly healthy and she's now 8 months old with no health problems, weed isn't as bad as everyone says it is its not addictive I smoked before I got pregnant and even though I'm having severe morning sickness I still refuse to smoke pot so its not addictive at all. but it doesn't hurt the baby it just gives you an appetite I don't think it's bad to smoke pot during pregnancy if you've tried everything else which I have an I'm still not smoking but some women find it a good solution to morning sickness. but I've never heard of anyone in Michigan getting their baby taken cause they smoked pot and tested positive for it.

depends on state and county, in mine you and baby pop positive they are taking the baby and charging you with neglect.

Yes they do test you and the baby and if either comes up positive cps will get involved, it's really not good to smoke anything during pregnancy because it depletes the baby's oxygen there are many other ways to relieve sickness
