Apparently I missed the bus. I thought baby showers were to just celebrate the baby and IF the guests could afford it, get gifts. People in my family AND his are HEAVILY upset at my indifference. I'm not throwing one because I don't want one, and I'm not pressing for a "surprise" either. Somehow this makes me ungrateful and/or selfish. So, from behavior my families seem to expect, the rule for 2015 I guess is GOTTA DO IT.
1. You MUST have one. Maybe more.
2. Wait until after the shower to buy items because people HAVE to bring gifts.
3. Throwing a fit over shower/planning/gifts/absence of gifts/the wind blowing wrong is perfectly acceptable and even expected.

I'm waaaay too introverted, and have no energy at all! I never said they couldn't spend time with us, or buy whatever they want for the baby, I just don't need the craziness attached to a party. @mommy2bof3n2016 & they want me to feel bad for it!!! #NOPE

I agree I always felt that the shower was to celebrate the baby but I have never thrown one for myself. Mainly bcuz of the misconception that if u throw a shower that u must be asking for gifts. My MIL always throws mine I don't fight with her about it just bcuz I know she is always really excited about another grand baby.

It's not the 1st time I've made them mad and it won't be the last lol I came up with an idea tho--they can ABSOLUTELY alternate spending time with us those first few weeks. Gifts are great but their time would be phenomenal as we adjust to the new baby.
