I get £400 a month :( & I was sacked 2 days before I took my maternity leave. It will be a shock to your system but it's doable :) xx

@ljay, you can apply for maternity allowance. my friend is self employed and she got maternity allowance for 9 months (same as statutory mat pay) x

statutory maternity pay is a few pence off £140 a week. If 90% of your wages is more than that then you get statutory maternity pay. If 90% of your normal wages is less than £140 pw then you only get 90%of your wage.....but that's not as much of a pay drop as when you work full time so probably easier to budget !

I lost about a grand a month too 😣 but you just learn to budget and live with it. and you will find that going back to work full time isn't beneficial either unless you have free childcare. I am better off financially working two days a week than working full time because childcare is so expensive and you don't have to pay tax etc for less hours !

I work as a nurse and loose £1000 a month down to about £500 a month, partner is on a good wage but it's alot to loose, he will have to top the mortgage up on wat i can't contribute pay bills and food, we will need to budget and go back to work asap x
