Anyone on here had to have a stitch put in the cervix? X
@julie-louise, all the best hun, let me know how you get on x
I'm booked in for Thursday morning :) thank you x
@julie-louise, do you know when your having it done hun? I hope everything goes ok for you x
@xxtxx, that's good news that she made it that far. I'm so scared of having it done but I know it's the best option x
@julie-louise, she carried until 34 weeks so baby was abit early but only delivered because baby stopped growing due to placenta problems. Baby needed a little help but all was well in the end. Deffo would say the benefits outweigh the risk tenfold hun x
I have a weak cervix I previously delivered a beautiful baby girl at 22 weeks my last pregnancy. So I have been having internal scans to measure my cervix every 2 weeks except the last 4 weeks when I have had thwm every week to be sure I'm okay. It went from measuring 48mm to 18mm in a week so they are putting a stitch in my cervix just wondered if anyone had been through this before and if they went full term in all fairness I would be happy going another 10 weeks it's better than nothing :) @xxtxx did your friend go term in her pregnancy? X
@winterbaby95, I think they only check if you have a history of problems or symptoms. My friend said they can check by examination and transvag ultra sound. I'm not actually sure if they can see it on a normal ultrasound. x
@emily.and.phoebe Awe, thank you xD 😍 xx @xxtxx I've heard of women having stitches because of a weak cervix...just wondered if they found this out via a pelvic exam...Do they often check you for a weak cervix?
I'm not sure what the indications for needing a Cervical cerclage are but it's something to do with having an incompetent and weak cervix. It prevents preterm labour. My friend has this done but she had previously had two very early babies. x
I was 41weeks 4day's when I gave birth so I went overdue. I ended up having to have a forceps delivery so they had to cut me and I tore after they cut me as well. @julie-louise. and I didn't even know they had cut me til after baby was here because I had an epidural so didn't feel anything @winterbaby95. I got told after that they needed to stitch me. and I don't think they stitch inside your vagina, they just stitch the outside depending on why you need them in the first place. you won't know you need stitches until you've had your baby. if you tore or have an episiotomy, depending how how much you tore or how far they had to cut you, would depend on if they have to stitch you or not. sometimes it's only small, so some people don't need stitches. sorry this was long
How do you know whether or not you need a stitch in your cervix? @emily.and.phoebe @julie-louise
How many weeks were you? Did you carry full term? I've got one booked in for Thursday and am 22weeks I'm so nervous x
Thank you x
